llyn Historic Sash Co. (AHSC), Nauvoo, Illinois, has been making sash, doors, and other items for restoration and historic re-creation projects since 1975. The signature or uniqueness of our work is centered in using authentic mortise and tenon, square-peg joinery. The glass most commonly used is European mouth-blown cylinder glass. In 1999, Charles Allen, owner of AHSC, was asked to design, build, finish, and install 134 windows and 7 front doors for the rebuilding of the historic Nauvoo Temple owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon). The project took three years to complete and was dedicated in June 2002. The original temple was built in the 1840's and destroyed a few years later by mob action (arson) and violent weather (tornado). |
